We all have come from a place of idolatry. vs.

A. Our selfish, sinful nature is
where we start. Rom.

B. At this time, we are slaves to

II. When we receive the pure gospel, we
are replacing our idols with the one true God. vs.

A. We need to know what the pure
gospel is. Gal.

B. To know and be known by God is
the personal relationship necessary. vs. 9
III. To know the truth and turn back to a
different form of idolatry is tragic. vs. 9-10
A. Our own personal religion can
be demonic.

B. Our own personal religion can
be discouraging to other believers. vs.

IV. We are called to bring the message of
freedom to the captives. Is. 61:1-4,
Luke 4:16-21
A. As we follow Christ, we should
encourage others to become as we are. vs.
12, I Cor. 11:1
B. We also should become as they
are, within the boundaries of Scripture, to win them to Christ. vs.
12, I Cor. 9:19-23
